How long did each of you take to cross the 700 mark on T-Day in months. What was your initial score on the diagnostic exam you took and the what was you final score and after how many months?

Thanks. I am just trying to get a general feel of how long it takes folks.

It varies from person to person. While there are candidates who get great scores with just 1-2 weeks of preparation and at the other end there are those who are unable to score well even after studying for a year, in general if you're an average candidate, then 3-4 months should be good for you. Candidates who score 720+ on the GMAT in 3-4 months usually start with 600-650 on their diagnostic tests. However, there are candidates who score well even after doing badly on their diagnostic tests but they realize quickly what they need to do to score well.

There are also a lot of student that have a good score in mock test and score above 700 after 7 or 8 months of study

One day a read someone scores 760 after 2 years and 5 official tests taken

In my opinion generally speaking several months of study are necessary to score weel on test, and weel I mean above 700.

I would say, if you start around 600 and study regularly (atleast 2 hrs a day) for 5-6 months you should be able to reach 700.

Depends on your starting point and how much effort you need to put in.
The most improvement i have seen was 300 points (this guy).

I spent 3.5 months on about 200 points of improvement... really depends on your effort, materials, and focus.
