It took me 15 minutes to solve this and I don't even know if answer is correct , is this GMAT question??

anyways my answer is 59 ( don't know if it is correct)

I got 3 +8*7 = 59

MEDITERRANEAN = 13 letters

2 places are given so we have 11 letters to choose from for 2nd and 3rd position

Now 2 possibilities either these two letters are same or they are different

if they are same number of way we can select is 3 ( since E=3 , A=2 , N=2)
if they are different number of ways we can select letters is 8*7 =56 (E=3, M=1, D=1,I=1,T=1,R=2 ,A=2,N=2 )

so total number 56+3 =59
