How many paintings does Jill own?

(1) If Jill sells 5 of her paintings then she will own fewer than 24 paintings.

(2) If Jill buys 5 more paintings then she will own at least 32 paintings.

Hey Guys what am I missing??
Stmt. 1 and 2 are insuff. individually.

Together,
Let the no. of paintings be x.
Therefore,
x-5<24
x+5>32

Plugging in values,
x=28 is the only value which will satisy.IMHO (C) Confused

Statement 2 states that she will own AT LEAST 32 paintings if she buys 5 more. Therefore, the conditons that must be satisfied are:

(1) x - 5 < 24
(2) x + 5 >= 32

There are two values which satisfy this: x = 27 and x = 28.

Therefore, the correct answer is E.

Great Explanation - again tricky as 28 seems to be the answer but because of $$>=$$sign answer can include 32

E insufficent as 27 and 28 are both answers.
