Hey chineseburned,

Thank you so much for sharing your templates and essay examples! I received my GMAT official score report today and I got a 6.0 on the AWA using your templates. They were a tremendous help and have once again proven to be successful.

Thanks again!

This is the THE perfect guide. I literally just memorized the standard structure with how he started and ended every essay. (Never practiced writing), and got a 6.0. English i my second language and I am NOT a strong writer.

Hello bb/chineseburned,

I have a query pertaining to Analysis of an Issue:

Is it possible to agree with one part of the statement and disagree with the other half.

I saw this approach in a sample essay written in 800score guide. Ironically, this is a response to an official issue question.

The stem is

"“It is unrealistic to expect individual nations to make, independently, the sacrifices necessary to conserve energy.
International leadership and worldwide cooperation are essential if we expect to protect the world’s energy resources
for future generations.”

The response to this stem is agreeing with the 1st half while it doesnt entirely support the second half on the basis that there is no clear mention of type of resources depleting and to be conserved.

Thank You chineseburned. I used your template and wrote 2 essays before the big day and got 5.5. This is a very very good template and helped me get away with a 5.5 in just two days. Your efforts are much appreciated.

I just want to say a million thanks to chineseburn. I just got an official score today and my AWA is 6!!!
I'm an international student too. I'm originally from Thailand. Was so panic a few nights before the test because I didn't prepare much for AWA. So, I tried to look through the whole topics listed in OG12, but it made me feel worse. So, I stopped doing that. On the exam date, I brought this AWA guideline with me to the test venue, looked at it one more time just to make sure I didn't miss anything. Then, there was nothing to lose. I thought I did quite ok with it and didn't expect the score to be 6 at all..just 4 or 4.5 is enough. This is way too good!! and I must thank to chineseburn

The verbal part is my weakest link! Got 580..(Q49 V22!!!) Quite sad with the verbal part cuz after I finished Quant, I felt too proud that I could do it. So, I couldn't concentrate on the verbal. Sad!!!
Just register the next exam...the date is 31 Aug. I'll do my best

Just wanted to say thank you for an awesome AWA guide. I reviewed it for about two to three hours the day before I took the GMAT and just found out that I scored a 6.0! I wouldn't recommend spending too long studying this unless english is a weak spot for you (i.e. not your primary language). However, everyone should use this guide and, in my opinion, pay particular attention to the structure and key words/phrases that the e-rater looks for.

Now, time to revamp the resume, write essays and get the letters of rec..... seems like a never ending process

Awesome buddy! You gave me much required energy Unfortunately, Tomorrow is my exam and in my 3 week study preparation, today is the only day I got for AWA (on&off I am referring few materials, nothing worth a mention) . This post for sure is the best guide I have gone through so far!

In the template, is it a good idea to use Firstly,Secondly .. so on...instead of First, Second ?? as we are ending with Finally (for the last point ).

Guide to Perfect 6.0 AWA GMAT Score

1. General Structure

1.1 Argument
1st Para - First,...
3rd Para - Third/Finally,...

1.2 Issue
Intro - Restate issue, take a position
1st Para - First/One reason...
2nd Para - Second/Another reason...
3rd Para - Third/Perhaps the best reason...

where do you get examples for the topics? I mean sometimes I do not even have a clue what to write, what to provide as an example to the main point of a topic.
