How to improve Verbal score [#permalink]

Hi guys,

Today I gave my GMAT test. I am very disappointed with the score. Got a math score of 44 and verbal only 27 (score being 590). I used Princeton review and Official Guide.

Can anyone suggest what is the best way to prepare for Verbal section.

Regards,

Deepak S Kanchi.

Try manhattan sentence correction for SC part.
powerscore CR bible for CR.
meanwhile u can check the reading comprehension strategies discussed by bb here in forum for ur RC.
also there is a new thread started for general rules in grammar.please check in verbal section.
if in any doubt please ask if i can help u more..

The first thing to do is to take at least one week off from any GMAT study. You probably studied for a while, so you deserve and need a break.

During this time, I also advise you to read the content in the following links:
should-i-retake-gmat-thread-retaking-gmat-strategies-83339.html
best-gmat-verbal-prep-books-reviews-recommendations-78094.html?highlight=ml308

As sandeep800 suggested, look into Manhattan SC and Powerscore CR. Those are the most popular books for verbal. If you need extra help in RC, I encourage you to practice with LSAT RC questions. For some, an RC guide is also recommended. Options include Powerscore RC or Manhattan RC. However, RC guides are usually not necessary.

If you have a little extra time, also consider some GMAT Fiction. This is an enjoyable way to improve your RC and SC skills.

Princeton Review sucks man! The questions in their question bank are non representative of official questions. Try Manhattan books or Knewton, both are equally strong.

In addition to OG's, Manhattan SC, CR and Kaplan Premier, try doing all of Manhattan GMAT Quizzes, Practice tests, Kaplan Premier & most importantly GMAT Prep practice exams.
