I stumbled upon this sentence in Aristotle SC grail-
Much as Lola needed the car, she had to refuse
I do not understand the structure of this sentence....(I understood this as-Lola refused to sell off the car or whatever as she needed it badly..) Is this right???I would also like to know some more sentences in which "much" is used this way....

Regards,
Vignesh

I believe the meaning that the sentence is trying to convey is that 'Although Lola really needed the car, she refused it'. Maybe the car was a gift, maybe it was a temporary ride, a rental.. who knows...

However, I doubt whether the question was worded correctly. In my opinion, the sentence should have started with 'As much as..' instead of 'Much as..'

Hmm.
