Re: If 5a + 2b = 11 and 4a + 3b = 4, then a – b = [#permalink]

If 5a + 2b = 11 and 4a + 3b = 4, then a – b =

a. -7
b. 25/7
c. 48/7
d. 7
e. 15

Usual way .
You have two equations solve for a and b and then subtract the values to get answer .

bt here if you look at equations
you can find that if you subtract 2 from 1 you get a -b
5a + 2b = 11
-(4a + 3b = 4)
=> 5a - 4a +2b-3b = 7
a- b = 7
Hence D is the answer straight

Re: If 5a + 2b = 11 and 4a + 3b = 4, then a – b = [#permalink]
5a + 2b = 11
4a + 3b = 4

Subtracting,
a – b = 7
Hence, OA is (D).
