Since AC = AB + BC, i.e., AC - AB = BC, we have BC = 4. Now we can let AB = x, and then AC = x + 4. Thus, the ratio AB/AC is x/(x + 4). However, since we don’t know the value of x, we can’t determine the ratio AB/AC. For example, if x = 1, then the ratio is ⅕. On the other hand, if x = 2, then the ratio is 2/6 = ⅓. Thus, the ratio can’t be determined.

We know

A............B..............C

and BC = 4
Lets assume AC= 8 then AB/AC will be 1/2
Let assume AC =5 then AB/AC will be 1/5
Lets assume AC = 12 then AB/AC will be 2/3

Hence E
