Re: If a, b, c, and d are different positive odd numbers, what is the medi [#permalink]
I got this correct but have a doubt in interpreting statement (2).

The product of the 3 numbers of a, b, c, and d is 15

The product of the 3 numbers of a, b, c, i.e. a * b * c = lets say x AND D is 15.

How can product of x * D be 15 if all are different positive odd numbers.

This has to do with the wording in the question, i think the question means that 3 numbers in the set (a, b, c, d) multiply together give 15 instead of a x b x c x d = 15.

I guess there's a wording problem

The second statement is not clear. Maybe, it means that a * b * c = d = 15? It is true for a = 1, b = 3, c = 5 and d = 15

1) \(a+b+c+d=16\)
2) The product of the 3 numbers of a, b, c, and d is 15

For anyone thinking there is a wording problem in statement 2.
The product of the 3 numbers of a, b, c, and d is 15
please note the use of the word "of", stating 3 numbers from the mentioned list.
If they wanted to give the indication that a*b*c=d=15, there would have been utilization two "and" words, one for list and another to indicate the second variable , "d".
something like, The product of the numbers a, b and c, and d are 15.
Hope this helps

Re: If a, b, c, and d are different positive odd numbers, what is the medi [#permalink]
I still have a doubt, regarding the 2nd statement i.e. the product of any of the 3 out of the 4 a,b,c and d is 15.
That means there is still one unknown variable, let's say 'abc=15' and so 'd' remains unknown. If there is still 1 unknown variable how are we getting the median of 4 numbers then?
