Can anyone explain why choice B is wrong?

B is wrong because the sentence has "they would have advised owners of Koniko stock to unload all shares immediately"

We cannot have "Had anyone".."they.." - Singular vs. plural.

So A,B and E are out (singular).

D is idiomatically correct.

quickly jumped to B then realized B is wrong...

D is correct, I re-read the statement and noticed the singular-plural error! D is the only one that corrects all the errors!
