Re: If integer x is greater than 0 but less than 10 and k = x^9, what is t [#permalink]
Another super careless mistake of mine,
I forgot 1, I only thought of 9^2= 8"1"

1) 0<x<10 , Value of x = 1 or 9. NOT SUFFICIENT.

2) x^-2 < 1/50 => x^2>50, Value of x^2 can be 8^2 or 9^2 since x<10. Thus x = 8 or 9. INSUFFICIENT.

1+2, x = 9 SUFFICIENT.

Re: If integer x is greater than 0 but less than 10 and k = x^9, what is t [#permalink]
If integer x is greater than 0 but less than 10 and k=x^9, what is the value of integer k?

(1) x^2 has a units digit of 1.
This implies that x = 1 or 9
Insufficient.

(2) x(–2)<1/50
This implies that x^2 > 50 since a larger value in the denominator means a smaller fraction which is necessary if 1/50 > 1/x^2
x = 10, 9, or 8
Insufficient.

Combo pack: x = 9.
Sufficient.
