Bunuel why kmn#0 is given in the question stem ?

Is there any quick method? It took me 4:26 mins to solve as Bunuel suggests above.

This question will work best with algebra only, with manipulating the statements and the question stem given. Apart from Bunuel's solution, you can also look at the following solution posted in this thread:
