(1) Line M has a negative slope.
Any line with negative slope will always pass through IV Quadrant --> Sufficient
Note: All lines with negative slope need not pass through III Quadrant & all lines with positive slope need not pass through II Quadrant!

(2) A line parallel to Line M has an equal slope.
Only talks about the property of parallel lines --> Insufficient

(1) Any line with a negative slope will always pass through Quadrant IV.
Thus, sufficient.

(2) Such a line may or may not pass through Quadrant IV.
Thus, insufficient.

Therefore, the correct answer is option A.

Imo. A

If line M passes through the coordinate system shown above, does line M pass through Quadrant IV?

(1) Line M has a negative slope. - Line M has to pass from IV quadrant, (not necessarily from III quadrant). Hence, sufficient.
(2) A line parallel to Line M has an equal slope. - we don't have any information about the parallel line to line M, whether it's positive or negative or 0 slope. Hence, can't predict about line M. Hence, insufficient.
