From statement 1

the possible values m start with 50 ,51 ,52,53 ....
if unit digit is 4 then

possible values are 54, 64,74 ...

so unit digit in 2m = 4*2 = 8 always

sufficient

statement 2.

unit digit of m and 2m are same which is possible in cases where unit digit is 0

sufficient

Please me know if this is not correct

It is not correct because the statement 1 says that the unit digit of 2m is 4 not the unit digit of m is 4.

However I am stilled confused because in the way a is written I think it contradicts statement 2?
