Statement 1:

If m is positive then n is negative

If m is negative then m is positive

Insufficient

Statement 2:

No info about n

Insufficient

Statement 1&2:

If m=2, then n=-1; YES

If m=-2, then n=1; NO

Insufficient

E

==>In the original condition, there are 2 variables(m,n) and 1 equation(|m-n|=3), so D is highly likely to be the answer. In the case of 1), (m,n)=(2,-1),(-2,1), so yes and no coexist, hence not sufficient. In the case of 2), you get |m-0|=|m|=2, m=±2, then (m,n)=(2,-1),(-2,1), hence yes/no, so not sufficient.
Through 1) & 2), you get (m,n)=(2,-1),(-2,1), so yes/no, hence not sufficient. The answer is E.

Answer: E

1) mn<0

This mean that m & n have different signs

Let m= 2 & n= -1........Answer is Yes

Let m=-2 & n= 1........Answer is No

Insufficient

2) The distance between m and 0 is 2

This tells us that |m| = 2...

m could be 2 or -2....Apply same examples above

Insufficient

Combine 1 & 2

No conclusive answer

Answer: E
