(1) The average (arithmetic mean) of p, w, r, s, and t is 5.
(2) p -r > 5.

1. set can either be {5,5,5,5,5} with range 5-5=0 or {3,4,5,6,7} with range 7-3 =4 Hence insufficient.
2. if t=s then range>5 likewise if t >5 range is greater than 5. Hence sufficient

I think the answer should be E. Could someone please correct me if I'm wrong ?

From (1), all the numbers can be 5 or those can be 0,0, 0, 0,25 so not sufficient.

From (2), This is not sufficient either.

combining (1) and (2), we don't know anything about other 3 numbers, so the answer is E.

It's B.

You don't need to know other 3 numbers.

If the difference between any two number is greater than 5, the range will be at least greater than 5. Range is the mximum difference between any two numbers.

p=2
r=8
p-r>5
If other numbers are; 5,5,5; range will be 6>5

Because it is not given that p, w, r, s, and t are in ascending/descending order. But now I'm clear after fluke's explanation.
