(1) R=0
(2) x>0

It should be A.

R = (xy + 1 )^2= (xy)^2 + 2xy + 1

Stmt 1: R = 0

so xy = -1.

stmt 2: insufficient.

xy=?

X^2Y^2+2xy+1 --> (xy+1)(xy+1)=R

1: R=0

xy=-1 in both cases so suff.

2: doesnt really do anything.

Got A: x^2*y^2 + 2xy + 1 = (xy + 1)(xy + 1)

I. Suff: xy + 1 = 0 --> xy = -1
II. Ins.
