Stem: w = 4.5h – 154
What is Eric's weight (EW) - Tom's weight (TW)

S1) E = Eric's height; T = Tom's height
E = T+4
Eric's Weight: 4.5E – 154 = 4.5(T+4) – 154
Tom's Weight: 4.5T – 154
EW - TW
(4.5(T+4) – 154) - (4.5T – 154)

Sufficient

S2) TW = 152
Nothing is given for Eric.
Not Sufficient

1) Use simple difference in height to calculate Weight via formula in question stem
2) Nothing about Eric or his height - insuff.

Re: If the recommended weight w, in pounds, for a male is given in terms.. [#permalink]
w=4.5h−154
Tom weight = 4.5h(tom)-154
Eric's weight =4.5h(eric) -154
Difference = 4.5( h(eric) - h(tom) )

(1) Eric is 4 inches taller than Tom
h(eric) - h(tom) is given. Sufficient

(2) According to the formula, Tom's recommended weight is 152 pounds.
There is no way to find Erics weight Insufficient

Hence A
