(1) x = 2, y is unknown. Insufficient

(2) x and y unknown. Insufficient

(1)+(2) only possibility x=2, y=0; Sufficient

Explanation:
Find X+Y=?

St1: x^4 is even, & x is prime
so 2 is the only even prime. So x=2
but nothing about y So In sufficient

St2: x^y
no details about x & y

Combined: we know x is even i.e. 2, & only it can be odd when y=0
x+y=2+0= 2

1 stm -- tells us that x=2, nothing about y. Insufficient
2 stm -- infinite number of x and y combinations. INsufficient

together: x is 2 and 2 powered by y is odd, the only case we have got is y=0; Sufficient
