If x and y are positive integers such that x = 8y + 12, what is the greatest common divisor of x and y?

1) x = 12u, where u is an integer
2) y = 12z, where z is an integer

I would go with E.

From 1 we get multiple values for X and Y (36,3) (60,6) etc
From 2 we once gain get multiple values (108, 12), (204, 14) etc

Combining both we get multiple values. Henc ewe cannot determine GCF for X and Y
