A. x – 2
B. x – 2000
C. x – 3999
D. x + 2000
E. x + 3999

The sum of all numbers 1 to 1998 will be x – (1999+2000) = x – 3999. Option C is the correct answer.

Give me +1 Kudos if you like the explanation. Thanks.

Sum of all numbers 1 to 2000 = x

Sum of last 2 terms = 1999 + 2000 = 3999

Sum of all numbers 1 to 1998 = x - 3999
