Given: $$x-y>10$$. Question: is $$x-y>x+y$$? --> is $$2y<0$$? --> is $$y<0$$?

(1) $$x=8$$ --> $$8-y>10$$ --> $$y<-2$$, hence $$y<0$$. Sufficient.
(2) $$y=-20$$, hence $$y<0$$. Sufficient.

On simplfying, it can be seen that the question is asking if y < 0

From (1) 8 - y > 10

=> y < -2, so sufficient

(2) is sufficient too

From the question -
x-y > x+y
or x-x > y+y
or 0 > 2y
or y < 0

Given that x-y > 10
or y < x-10

so, to answer if we need to know if y < 0 in the equation above y < x-10
if x = 8, then x-10 = -2, this satisfies y < 0
if y = -20, then this also satisfies y < 0

Both A and B alone are sufficient.

Is x-y > x+y => Is y<0 ?

Using either statement alone, y is negative, so (D) is the answer.

If we are to find whether x-y>x+y...This comes down to -Y>+Y or Y is negative.
for 1) x=8 and x-y>10 => y<-2 ALWAYS negative.SUFFICIENT.
2) Y=-20 Always Negative. SUFFICIENT.

Both A and B are sufficient independently.
