If x, y and z are positive single-digit integers and x*y = z. What is z?

(1) x and y even numbers
(2) x = y

Given x, y, z are positive single digit integers.
S1 - x,y can be any even numbers
if x=2, y=4, z=8
or if x=2, y=2, z=4.
two different answers hence not sufficient.

S2 - x=y
if x=y=2, z=4
or if x=1,y=1, z=1
two different answers hence not sufficient.

Combining both statements x=y and both are even,
only option is x=y=2, z=4 because any other even integer will lead to z as 2 digit integer
hence C
