1) $$\frac{y}{x}$$=$$\frac{4y}{x}$$−$$6y$$

2) $$y = 2$$

Target question: What is the value of x

Statement 1: y/x = 4y/x - 6y
First eliminate the fractions by multiplying both sides of the equation by x to get: y = 4y - 6xy
Now divide both sides of the equation by y to get: 1 = 4 - 6x
Subtract 4 from both sides of the equation by y to get: -3 = -6x
Solve: x = 0.5
Since we can answer the target question with certainty, statement 1 is SUFFICIENT

Statement 2: y = 2
Statement 2 is NOT SUFFICIENT

Cheers,
Brent
