Based on this understanding , I approached the problem that if I need to find least possible value of |23-5y|
I need to find least negative value. In other words 5y should be as high as possible so that 23-5y in still lower.
Meaning if y is maximum say 5 among given choices then |23-5y| = |23-(5)*(5)| ie |23-25|
ie |-2| or 2 which is answer option (E)

Also |23-5y| for y=2 in similar way yields |23-10| ie 13 which is a bigger value.

Am I incorrect since I am finding list possible value of y and not |2x-y|


hi adkikani

you did everything right but probably read the question wrong and hence you are confused here. would suggest you read the question carefully and try to understand what the question is asking. is it really asking the maximum value of y?
