(2) z + 5 is an odd integer. 1) z/2 =1.5 then Z= 3,Z is odd, ans is No, if Z/2 =2 then z= 4, z is even , ans is yes insufficient. 2)z + 5 is an odd integer > then z must be even sufficient Answer B

B
if z=27 1)z/2=13.5 so it neither odd(nor even nor an INTEGER)not suff 2)suff(given z is an integer

(1) is not an odd integer.
(2) z + 5 is an odd integer. I assume statement 1 says that "\(z\) is not an odd integer." Statement 1) If \(z\) is NOT an odd integer, but \(z\) is an integer, \(z\) must be an even integer. All integers are either odd or even, including \(0\). Sufficient. Statement 2) \(z + odd = odd\), so \(z\) must be even. If \(z\) were odd, then \(z + odd\) would equal an even number. \(O + O = E\) and \(E + O = O\). Sufficient.

Ans D. Since from stmt 1, if Z is an integer and not odd then the possible values are 0 or any even integer . Suff
From Stmt 2: Even Int + 5 = odd Integer. Hence Suff

bschool83. If you dont mind, please make sure to mark level of the question in a right way. This is not a 700 level question. Thank you.

Is this really a 700 level question ? The answer is clearly D If it's not odd then it's even, hence statement 1 sufficient Statement 2 is also sufficient because as we try combinations only an even number with an odd number yields an odd number and there is no restriction on positive or negative even. (1) is not an odd integer.
(2) z + 5 is an odd integer. Please complete statement 1. (1) z/2 is not an odd integer

Agree with Fluke..
Z/2 is not an odd integer..we cannot assume that it is an integer in the first place!
Ans B...
If thats the catch, then it should be a 700 level question..

official ans plz ?
from what i solved ... assuming z/2 is an integer ... answer should be "d" but ... if z/2 belongs to real numbers (including decimals) then it should be "b" as suggested by fluke

I think answer is E. because in second case for z=0 , z+5 is odd is also valid. But for z=0 , z is not an even integer. Please correct me

Here is my solution to this one >
We need the even odd nature of integer z
Statement 1> z=5 z=4
Taking these two test cases we can say that this is an insufficient statement
Statement 2> zodd=odd => z=> odd+odd=even Hence sufficient
Hence B
