This is either poorly phrased or a trick question.

From the question: "If 30% of the workers are full-time employees and 60% of these are women, what percentage of the full-time workers in the company are men"

If 60% of the fulltime workers are women, then 40% of the fulltime workers are men, assuming no neuters.

12%?

30% are full time workers. 60% are women so 40% should be men. We're asked for percent of total men in the company being full time workers so we have to find 40% on 30%. And that is 12% of total. Basically the fact: 55% of workers being men, is redundant.

I am getting 10%.

If we assume there are totally 100 employees.
55 - Men
45 - Women

30 are fulltime employees

60%(45) = 27

So, only 3 men can be fulltime employees.

3/30 multiplied by 100 gives 10.

Men Women
Full Time 12% 18% 30%

Part Time 43% 27% 70%

55% 45% 100%

60% of the 30% of the full time workers are female; therefore 18% of the total work force are full time female workers. Thus 12% of the total full time staff are male.

40% ..

By wonder_gmat's working we get 12 out of 100 workers, but FT total is 30, so answer is FT men/total Ft x 100 = 12/30 x 100 = 40%

Kudos! you are right! i guess no calculation was necessary then. just take the residual of the 60% of female full time employees.
