In a convenience store in a certain year, the average (arithmetic mean [#permalink]

In a convenience store in a certain year, the average (arithmetic mean) monthly sales of soda X was n dollars. Was this less than, greater than, or equal to the average (arithmetic mean) monthly sales of soda Y, in dollars?

(1) The average (arithmetic mean) monthly sales of soda Y from January to August were n dollars.

(2) The average (arithmetic mean) monthly sales of soda Y from May to December were 2n dollars.

Average monthly sales of x = n
Total sales in the year would be = 12n

Average monthly sales of Y = m
Total sales in the year would be = 12m

n>m?
or 12n > 12m

Statement 1:
7n + x (where x is total sales after aug till dec). So 12n > 7n + x could be true or false or equal - Not sufficient

Statement 2:
Sales from May - Dec = 2n*8 =16n

16n>12n - Sufficient.
