600= V*t
600=(V-200)(t+1/2)
V=600/t
V=[600/t+1/2]+200
at t=1
V=600
V=[600/(3/2)]+200
V=600
So t=1 hr

satya2029, your answer is correct, but trial and error can take time in some cases. There is an alternative approach/equation to arrive at answer directly.

whats the source of question??

Not clear whether trip speed delayed from somewhere in the way or it is already scheduled with less speed for entire trip.??

If later is the case then ! hr is answer
Because in that case 600 m/h is actual speed ,which after reduction becomes (600- 200)=400 m/h
Making avg time of 1 hr. increased by 0.5 hr ie 1.5 hrs( 600 m/400 m/h)

$$\frac{600}{s-200} - \frac{600}{s} = \frac{1}{2}$$

Or, $$\frac{600s - 600s +120000}{s(s-200)}= \frac{1}{2}$$

Or, $$240000 = s(s-200)$$

Or, $$s = 600$$

So, total duration of the original flight was 600/600 = 1 Hour.... Answer must be (A)
