the grade of the students is determined by the following method--

at the end of 1st year---grade = 2*age of the student

From then on---grade = 2*age of the student +$$\frac{1}{2}$$(grade from the previous year)

--Joeys grade at the end of 1st year = 40
2*age of student = 40
age of student-(at the end of 1st year) = 20

age of joey -(at the end of 2nd year) = 20+1 =21

--Joeys grade at the end of the 2nd year = 2*21 +$$\frac{1}{2}$$*40 = 42+20 = 62

age of joey -(at the end of the third year) = 21+1 = 22

--Joeys grade at the end of the 3rd year = 2*22 + $$\frac{1}{2}$$*62 = 44+31 = 75
