French, how many of these students study both French

(1) Of the 300 students, 60 do not study Spanish.
(2) A total of 240 of the students study Spanish.

Guys i solved this question using double set matrix

But OA is different.Pls point out the error.Is it that we can only use venn diagram to solve this question.As solution is mentioned using venn diagram.if yes then how ill be come to know which method to use

In the question its given that total number of students is 300 who study either French or Spanish or both.
Also its is given that 100 students do not study French. This indicates that 100 students study Spanish as the students have to study atleast one subject.

Statement 1: says, Of the 300 students, 60 do not study Spanish. i.e. 60 study only French
So we have total students = study only Spanish + study only French + study both

300 = 100 + 60 + study both. One unknown, Hence sufficient

Statement 2: says, A total of 240 of the students study Spanish. This also includes few students who study french as well.
Total students who study spanish = Only spanish + study spanish and french
240 = 100 + study spanish and french. Hence sufficient.
