In my second attempt on GMAT, I was doing very well on Verbal up to 20 questions. I have answered 2 Medium RC passages by reading carefully. I was doing very well on CR & SC till this point. I have encountered a long RC passage at that time. I have tried to be thorough with this passage as well but could not do that. Before I realized, I ended up spending 12 minutes on this. I was left with very short time and almost 1/2 of questions. I have guessed several questions and rushed through them. In the end scored 31 in Verbal.

But for this long passage, I would have comfortably scored more than 35. How do we tackle this long passages on the test? Has anyone faced this on test ? What is the strategy to overcome this situation. I am sure I will encounter this kind of passage even in my next attempt.

Better way to tackle this situation is to try to work on longer RC questions...(simple idea???^^) Try 1000 RC. They are long and 8-9 questions on each. Set the time, maybe 15 minutes at first shot, and practice. And try to shorten the time to say 12 minutes. They are real questions, another advantage. Helpful???
