One can do the math and it is time consuming. Is there a shorter quicker trick at solving this?
You can calculate this completely (the IR section gives a calculator), but you can also estimate quite quickly.
For the shirts, 28.85 can be rounded up to 30 euros for 5 shirts, or 6 euros per shirt in September. In October, these are 25% off, or 4.5 euros each. 11 shirts gives 49.50 euros (very easy to do 4.5 * 10 + 4.5). We know we rounded up a bit, so it's reasonable to assume that 47.60 is the right answer - plus there are no other options that are close.
For the trousers, round 38.97 up to 39 euros for 3 pairs, which is 13 euros per pair. At 25% off, these are about 9.75 each in October, I'm going to use 10 because it's an estimate. 10 euros per pair of trousers * 7 pairs gives 70 euros. We know that we overestimated by approximately 0.25 * 7 = 1.75, so we are very confident that 68.20 euros is the proper answer.
