Srijay, they in D refers to the actors and changes referents in the sentence. It's the corporation that don't want to plug the competition not the actors. right?

A

The corporation didn't want to plug the competition, not the actors. The corporation is single in American Standard English

forbid .. to is right idiom

so A and C left out.

C is awkward construction. "they" is not having proper antecendent.

A is best choice.

one more vote for (A),
however, without "they" ( or say if we modify they to it) D would be best choice.

Correct me if I am wrong..

cheers

A is best. Only thing that "did not want to plug the competition" is the "Chrysler corp". A also has right idiom "forbade...to" in the past tense
