In the equation b = ka + 3, k is a constant. If the possible solutions are in the form (a, b), is (2, 3) a solution to the equation?

(1) (1, 4) is a solution to the equation b = ka + 2.
(2) (5, 3) is a solution to the equation 3b = ka - 1.

this is yes or no question.

Statement 1 : as (1,4) is given as solution of equation b = ka + 2,There is only variable K , which can be found.
4 = k*1 +2
k=2
putting value K in equation b=ka+3, b=2a+3
If we have to check whether (2,3) is solution to equation or not.
L.H.S : 3
R.H.S : 2*2+3 = 7.
Statement 1 is sufficient to give yes or no answer

Statement 2 : as (5,3) is given as solution of equation 3b = ka- 1,There is only variable K , which can be found.
3*3 = k*5 -1
k=2
putting value K in equation b=ka+3, b=2a+3
If we have to check whether (2,3) is solution to equation or not.
L.H.S : 3
R.H.S : 2*2+3 = 7.
Statement 2 is sufficient to give yes or no answer

As both statement are individually sufficient , so answer is D
