Draw a line parallel to AB or CD through E
Applying interior opposite angles to be equal,X=30+40=70

Can you provide the official solution? Why the answer is not 75?


The answer will be 70 and C.
D must have been entered erroneously.

Just continue the BE line up to the point R.

Since AB is parallel to CD, the angles of <ABE and <ERD are equal to each other. (<ABE = <ERD= 40º)
--> in ∆ERD, <RED= 110º --> x = 180º- 110º= 70º

Continue the straight line BE from point E to the CD line, let's say to the point F. Then according to the theorems about parallel lines, the angle EFD is equal to the angle ABE=40. According to interior and exterior angles rule, x is equal to 180- angle FED=Sum of EFD+FED=30+40=70 C)
