Solution:

The angle at the center is denoted with a right angle sign, and hence the angle value is 90 degree.
We know a straight angle is 180 degree. In other words, all the angles in a straight lines must add up to a value of 180 degree.
Therefore, x degree + 90 degree + y degree = 180 degree
=> (x + y) degree = 90 degree

Hence, the correct answer is option C. 90

x + y + 90 =180

x + y = 90.
