In the system of equations above, what is the value of x?

Here is how I solved it, but didn't arrive at any of the above answer choice:

2x + 2y = -4 => x + y = -2
4x + y = 1

Subtract one equation from the other, get x = 1/3

so u have
x + y = -2 and
4x + y= 1

Subtract the second from the first

(x-4x) + (y-y) = (-2-1)
-3x = -3
x = 1
