INSEAD JANUARY 2011 INTAKE

Am getting different number every few minutes.

So far the numbers are 344 total students in all

29 Canadians - 14 M 14 F

41 Indians - 30 M 11 F

34 Americans - 17 M , 17 F

16 Lebanese - 12 M , 4 W

18 Chinese - 10 M, 8 W

3 Pakistanis - 3 M

I am planning to apply to Insead in round 2 for Sept 2011 intake. I worked for 2 years at a MNC and after that I decided to volunteer for 1 year (July 2010 - July 2011) in the non-profit space. My plan is to get an MBA and return to my previous employer (MNC).

My question is regarding the Job essays at Insead
Q1: Please give a detailed description of your job, including nature of work, major responsibilities; and, where relevant, employees under your supervision, size of budget, number of clients/products and results achieved.

This typically asks about our current job. Given the fact that i have only spent 3 months in my current job (non-profit), would it be advisable for me to describe my current job or should i talk about my previous job (MNC) where I have done substantial work.

Q2. Please give us a full description of your career since graduating from university. If you were to remain with your present employer, what would be your next step in terms of position?

This question expects me to articulate what would be my next position at my current job (non-profit). I do not have plans to continue at this job, so should I describe some position that I might be eligible for if i would continue for 2 more years, or should I describe my next position at my previous employer (MNC).

I am confused, I am not sure of the best way to approach these questions. Any guidance from the members is greatly appreciated, thank you.

PS: I am not officially on a sabbatical, I have left my previous company with an understanding that I will rejoin them in 2-3 years.

What is the target for admitted students for January intake; 450, 500?

I had a PM requesting me to look into number of Russians and Ukranians admitted in this batch

There are 11 Russians, 2 Georgians, and 2 Ukranians so far in the batch.

I am currently applying for 3rd of January intake... but I have not recieved any news from the recruitment team.

Should I be worried ? does it mean that I won't probably be a part of the 2011 promotion ?

Cant talk about the current target for the Class of 2011 but the current Class of Dec 2010 has 503 students in all.

For which round have you applied. I assume its R3. Most R3 admits should reive their interview decision by 10th Sep, and results will be announced by 15 Oct.

If its R2, then you should have received your admission decision by now.

So if your R2 , talk to your admissions coordinator and follow up and if your R3 "Wait" for a few more days.

I worried a little, as I am read on the forum that some R3 applicants have already taken their interviews
I have applied for third round and the waiting is really stressfull

Has there been any increase in the number of admits (from 344) on MBAConnect. Can any of the admits shed some light?

Most R2 applicants must have received the decision notification. Are admit offers still being sent out or is there anyone still waiting for the results? (Other than those officially waiting)

Just wanted to know if the admits want to take up a joint Pre Reading Study.

Its too boring otherwise. My suggestion is that all of us admits can use gotomeeting or another online tool to discuss the pre readings and perhaps help each other in the process. So if some admit has an accounting background or has read a certain pre reading text and wants to volunteer , the others can use this time to learn and ask questions.

The same can be done for the other courses. If we can find a way to work across geographies , we can use time to get ready for the program and more importantly build relationships with each other before the program.


Does anyone wish to participate in this initiative or is this a wishful idea?

Don't know if it is a bad news... but it is stressing me up

Applied for R3 Jan 2011 intake.Still waiting for the interview notification. I don't see many posts about R3 interviews yet. So am hoping they will come out in the next few days.Any idea about how many spots are still available for R3?

Also, i find that buying Pre-Reading books online / used like on Amazon is a much cheaper alternative than buying from Fonty bookstore. Search for the ISBN number under the Textbook section in Amazon.
