Congrats to those who has been contacted for interview. I am feeling very nervous here... :|
Does anybody know whether Hong Kong/Taiwan would be counted as part of China or is it viewed as an independent nationality............? Thanks!

Mon0818, This is a touchy subject and I dont know how it will be considered or viewed by INSEAD. Obviously there is physical travel needed :-)

However, I would believe INSEAD may look at international experience as how culturally diverse locations have you worked or lived and probably adapted to those cultures. All three locations that you mentioned have something culturally unique (from a cuisine perspective .. definitely!!!) and if you can bring that out and how you adapted to these differences would be more valuable. SOmetimes its not just the number of countries...

This is my personal view completely...

It's tough waiting around for a response that's beyond our control at this point.
So have you guys formulated a Plan B? or C?

My Plan B is to apply to other schools instead of just one. And this time it would be the fall intake -- a lot more schools to overcome the randomness of admissions.

What's your Plan B?

Thanks Indranilroyc! Sure the cuisine impressed you!!

I posted the question because I am an applicant from Hong Kong, and I am wondering whether I'd be grouped into the Chinese pool (which certainly is one of the most significantly represented countries in the student body)...Taiwan is because I am half Taiwanese.

Personally I am fairly confident on the level/amount of international exposure, what worries me is the GMAT, I totally screwed it, but since I am working in China I just can't make my way back to resit it...

Good luck everybody!

INSEAD is my one and only school applied to and I think I might give it another try should Plan A failed...
I just received a scholarship for a short term management programme in Hawaii though and that could be the Plan B.

Which other schools are you considering?

Congratz to those in R2 who've already heard about interviews.

Did any of you have GT as your coordinator? Do they always call or email or a combination of both? The waiting is killing me!! :|

Marie is my admission co-ordinator as well. I am from the Indian pool of applicants and I dont expect any early invites (If at all!) for this pool. But I still refresh my mailbox every now and then!!!!

I am on the same boat as mon0818 and have only applied to INSEAD. I am definitely not interested in a 2 year course and I intend to have a focus ( read- job/ business) in Asia after graduation. Insead and IIM PGPX are the best choices for such a requirement. I have not applied to IIM PGPX this year and my plan B is really to continue on with what I am doing now instead of applying to other colleges.

Interview invite --> comes by email.
Admit notification --> usually phone call, followed by email. In very rare case, the other way around.

Thanks.... guess I'll have to keep checking my email....

keep my fingers crossed.

here is my profile:

Chinese applicant, 28, gmat700, T waived, 5 years in Commercial Banking in an EU country, I was previously a risk manager and analyst, and currently a corporate finance manager.

I only applied for INSEAD, if it doesn't go well, I would probably apply NYU at Oct, well, not decided yet.

2 weeks + till notice for R2's :?

My guess is that the only people who need to worry about numbers are the top 3: India, US, France.
Others only need to compete on the strength of their application.

Why? Because being from an uncommon country does not help you. Only coming from a common country has an impact -- hurts you -- because admission is capped for those countries at around 10-15%.

This is not like affirmative action. This is why the AdCom will tell you that they do not have quotas (minimum) but they have caps (maximum).

This is my understanding. Feel free to tell me if I'm wrong
