A – compares safety with sticks – wrong
B – safer as is unidiomatic
C – as safe as changes the meaning to mean ‘not exactly as safe as individual stocks’, rather than ‘not safer than individual stocks’
D – correct, no errors
E – missing word, needs an ‘and’ after the comma.

D is the correct option.
