Statement 1- insufficient
As we have to find relation between a and b. But here we are given relation between a and c

Statement 2 - insufficient

Using statement 1 and 2
We get a= 2- b
We can't establish any relation between a and b.
So E

Combine 1 & 2

a = 1 - c
b = 1 + c
----------------Sum both equation
a+b =2

Let a =0 & b=2........Answer is No

Let a =2 & b=0........Answer is Yes

We do not have sufficient information to determine whether C is a posivitve or negative number.
Therefore both statements do not help is in determining the correctness of the inequality and we have to chose answer E.
