I tried the number line approach, but was unable to get the answer correct.(would like to see the key point approach as well)
will the key points be 0 and 5 ???

I then used the old approach of solving the mod individually, by taking 4 cases(this is ok here, but if the question was of a higher difficulty, IMO then its a bit time consuming)

(1) |a| = |a - 5|
when both will be +ive or -ive, we will get 0 !=5, this wont be considered as a valid case

When one side will be +ive, we can get a as 2.5 => a = -a + 5
=> a =2.5

Sufficient

Statement B

|a| = 2.5, this will give value of a as -2.5 or 2.5

Answer A

Using Statement 2 we get a = 2.5 or -2.5 => statement 2 is insufficent.

Using statement 1 we get a = 2.5 hence sufficient

So the correct Answer is option A
