Is it advisable (or a must) to take notes and/or diagram (like specified in MGMAT CR guide)?

I have a habit of doing CR questions in mind (and it works with say 80% accuracy) but as soon as I start taking notes for for CR questions or make a T diagram, I get distracted, taking even longer!!!

Of course not! It is not mandatory to follow any particular technique. Use whichever method your are comfortable with. As long as your pace and accuracy are excellent, it doesn't matter which methods you use. You can check out the stickies in the Critical Reasoning section of this forum if you need further CR tips.
