In my experience, both are the different. Frankly, it's hard to say which one is more tougher than the other one. I think GMAT is designed to test your verbal and math ability in English. Based on this point. I think you should focus on developing verbal and math ability by reading a lot articles in magazine or newspaper everyday and reviewing the basic concept of math in high school. If you have a high level in English, you'll get the high score easily. Otherwise, you'll be hard to defeat GMAT test. Maybre, being a student for me in Taiwan, in Asia, thinks that math section is pretty easy to control. But, for verbal section, it has ever been my nightmare. So, when I prepared GMAT, I almost spent a lot time on reading a lot articles in magazine, such as economist, businessweek, new york time. and U.S news......
It's my experience.

Kaplan's paper tests are about the same level as a 700 level GMAT score. Kaplan's CAT is tougher than a 700 level GMAT test. Many people, including myself, scored in the low 600s and high 500s on Kaplan CD to end up with 700+ on the exam.

I'd like to ask one more question: someone says
"Kaplan Cat verbal is much more difficult"
others say:
"Kaplan scores are lower not because of the difficulty of the questions, but because their score generator is different from that of ETS and generates lower scores."
Which of the two ones? Both?

I would agree that Kaplan RC is VERY difficult. Very convoluted passages perhaps even tougher than the toughest ones in the OG(Remember the science passage ones, the one with adenosine binding). CR and SC would be similar to the actual GMAT level. As to the scoring algorithm of Kaplan, yes, it is definitely less generous but the overall difficulty should not be discounted for as much.

I can't remember which was the hardest passage, but I distinctly remember that coffee passsage in the OG frustrating me. There was another one, but I can't recall what it was.
