Is $$x\geq{0}$$?

(1) x^2 = 9x --> $$x(x-9)=0$$ --> either $$x=0$$ or $$x=9$$, in any case the answer to the question "is $$x\geq{0}$$?" will be YES. Sufficient.

(2) x = - |x| --> $$x$$ can be zero (as $$0=-|0|$$) and in this case answer will be YES or $$x$$ can be any negative number (for example -1, as $$-1=-|-1|$$) and the answer will be NO. Not sufficient.

Hope it's clear.

Thanks Bunuel. I missed that X can be 0 in 2nd statement.
