Is $$x^2 – x – 12 = 0$$?

(1) $$x^2 + x – 6 = 0$$

(2)$$x < 0$$

Given equation $$x^2 – x – 12 = 0$$
factorize the given equation
(x-4)(x+3)=0
thus x= 4,-3

Statement 1: (1) $$x^2 + x – 6 = 0$$
factorize the given equation
(x+3)(x-2)= 0. Thus
x = -3,2 (not sufficient)

Statement 2: (2)$$x < 0$$
(not sufficient)
Combine 1 and 2
x= -3
which satisfies given equation

IMO C

factorize the given expression , we get x= 4 or -3 ,

so we have to look for 4 or -3 in the given statements

statement 1

Factorize statement 1 and we get x = -3 and 2

two values,

insufficient

statement 2

x<0 , insufficient

combine these two ,

we get x= -3 and this is the amswer
