Stmt 1: x^2 <x> 1/16.
Now if we take a fractional number greater than 1, the above mentioned is not true, take x = 3/2; x^2 = 9/4; now x^2 > x

Stmt 2: Insufficient as x^3 means that x is positive, it could be any number 1,4,5,6,etc. so insufficient.
