That's the tricky part of the question.
It LOOKS like we need both the x- and y-values to answer the target question, but after simplifying the target question (to get "Is y < 0?"), we quickly realize that all we need is the y value.

Brilliant thanks BrentGMATPrepNow for great help always. Crystal clear now. Testing is not a good choice but time consuming and error prone in this case. So algebraic is the way to go.

Any advice/tactics on how do we decide when to simplify/rephrase question first rather than go straight with number testing? Thanks
