Stmt1: Addition of two numbers is less than 0,implies atleast one number is negative.It can be x or y,Insuff
Stmt 2:Modulus is never negative.The addition is less than -1,implies x is negative,and x<y.Suff

Question : Is x > y?

Statement 1: x+y < 0
Case 1: x = -2 and y = 1 i.e. x < y
Case 2: x = 1 and y = -2 i.e. x > y

NOT SUFFICIENT

Statement 2: x + |y| < −1

but |y| is always Greater than or equal to zero

i.e. x < -1 and also |x| > |y| because result is -ve i.e. Value of x is predominant in result

i.e. even if y = -2 (negative) then x must be Less than -3 (smaller than y)

hence, x < y

SUFFICIENT

Answer: Option B
